are these chips worth their salt?

Land Rover Range Rover Defender Discovery 2 5 Diesel TD5 Chip Tuning BOX Remap | eBay

i recently found these on eBay, anyone have any experience with them? they make some good claims..

is this just an external remap setup? so rather than remapping the original ecu this sort of over rides it?

just picked up my first defender, 2000 model, i love it but I've had 4.2 patrols and rangers etc previous so id like to get a bit more stick out of it and I'm sick of changing gears uphill

    cheers guys

    Welcome to the forum

Looks to my like a plug in device. Having your own ECU chipped is a much better option although a bit more expensive.

TD5 inside is the way to go, although I don't know if he can do the non flash-able earlier ones which is what you would have.
    Dave.

I was asked " Is it ignorance or apathy?" I replied "I don't know and I don't care."

1983 RR gone (wish I kept it)
    1996 TDI ES.
    2003 TD5 HSE

if i did get Jose to do one for me, he quoted a good price too $940 for a NNN ECU boost box and postage from portugal, are they a punish to install, im assuming its not plug and play... i expect you would need a nanocom to put in new values or codes etc?

Lots of money for what is most probably a couple of resistors. Looks the goods thoufh. Get the ecu remapped by a reputable supplier -TRS, TD5 alive etc. May need to ask someone with a nanocom to assist.
