    IGT air filters

Has anyone used the IGT brand air filters before, the oil sponger ones, I just so happen to have aquired one but have read bad things about high flow air filters, although they are different to a k&n

No gains in any of them except engine wear - stick with the Factory stuff.

    Actually ITG mate!

These are used to great effect on high performance cars, the air mass flow rate is a lot less restricted at high rpm compared with standard paper filters.

I use these in the UK on my Lotus... easy to wash out in warm soapy water, dry and then re-oil. However I doubt if there would be any advantage on a low revving diesel lump. I would stick with the OEM too.

Each to their own, but I wouldn't touch them.
If you're going aftermarket, stick with what heavy machinery operators use...as their aim is longest engine life with highest fuel efficiency.
This approach would lead you to high efficiency, synthetic media filters from companies like Baldwin, Donaldson or Mann + Hummel.

With something from one of these companies, coupled with a restriction indicator, you'd never have to give it a second thought.

    Cheers
    Tom
