I won't tell that I left my Tdi idling for 9 hours then. Pat
You wouldn't believe it but I was called into work in a hurry, for some reason I jumped out and jumped straight into a vehicle that was waiting for me and forgot to turn the Tdi off,it was that simple. For nine hours it sat idling in the car park,a heap of people walked past it but thought I was charging the battery or something,it was in the middle of a Newman summer and when I got back to it the whole front end was hot,she blew a bit of black/blue smoke for a few K's but the tough old bitch has suffered nothing from it,still drives perfect today.I don't recommend idling engines but people carry on like the engine will be destroyed if idled for a few mins even, kind of like 5K oil changes will make them last longer. Pat
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

I know this is an old thread, but I stumbled across it and in the interests of a completeness for future searchers, here's a nice looking 110 I saw that was awaiting delivery at a dealer in Melbourne a few weeks back.
Agreed mate, with the caveat being as long as it is up to temperature!
Stopping and then starting a cold diesel is not good at all... far better on a 'short trip' to choose the 'let it idle' option so it at least gets up to working temperature.
Well, that is my understanding anyway.![]()
Yep. Agreed. That looks brilliant.
Keswick green is the one colour that makes me doubt my choice every time I see one.
I love my car in Fuji white, and I still think it's the most practical, but the green just looks 'right'.
I saw a nice little Keswick 90 with black pack last week, waiting on the docks in Fremantle. Not sure if it belongs to someone around here, but it looked a treat![]()
