Who not to use...
I had a BMW Motorbike transported Brisbane to Melbourne and was assured it would be in a crate! Bike got damaged in transit as it wasn't in a crate and the assessors quote for repairs was markedly lower than my own independent quote. Took alot of phone call and the threat of legal action to get it repaired eventually. User beware...
PM me for their name...

I tried Autologic but couldn't get them to quote they kept changing price then not returning calls but found CEVA quite good but expensive
. Cheapest way is to look for a truckie and get it back loaded there are some internet sites that you can list with but I haven't used them before

Try Patricks. I had a Rover sd1 transported from WA to VIC and it cost $750. That was to my door as well. They were pretty good to deal with. Maybe cheaper for you though.

Try toll as well. Toll and patrics are owned by the same people now. One will be nearly double the price of the other. Im unsure why.
Cheers

I recently had a 110 shipped to my door in Melbourne from the sellers door in Sydney for about $600 by Carways. Took about 4 days, and they didnt complain about a 6th wheel and a spare rear door being in the car.

Have you tried your local towing company?
I sounded mine out about getting some items from Minto.

ended up going with "moving cars" -cost $680.00 which i think was fairly reasonable for that distance.

Prices don't make much sense in terms of distance....
I was planning on touring Victoria and Tassie for a month or two between projects and I got a quote for $1230 return between Perth and Melbourne for the car transport (Defender 90) and $162 return on the ferry to Devonport.
Couldn't get the time off work so the trip will need to wait, but $615 equivalent for 3,420km (Perth to Melbourne) compared to $680 for 1,720km (Melbourne to Gold Coast) just doesn't really add up.
Intricacies of the Australian economy I imagine...
Cheers,
Lou
