    New Turbo at 12k

My MY13 110 went in for its 12mth service yesterday, bought it new in Feb 14 and has just under 12k on the clock

The scratching sound of the EGR cleaning, once engine switched off, was getting more frequent, mentioned it to the dealer and they sent a file to LRA

Response was to replace the Turbo - is this usual?

The service guy at the dealers seemed a little confused as to why LRA believed it was a turbo issue

Anything is possible from my experience. They will just keep replacing parts until it is sorted. I didnt mind except for the hassle it was but as long as new parts were going in, I didnt mind.I never had a turbo problem on my12 110. Had a few others though.

Being under warranty I'm unsure whether refusing to let them go ahead could raise issues for me down the track should something fail. But it does seem odd, unless there was something else on the file the service chap has not mentioned to me, unconnected to the EGR noise I had flagged

Irritating to not have the vehicle for 2 days, seems a long time to remove and replace a turbo but I'm (definitely) no expert in that area

The logic is if you are getting oil past the turbine side seal that's what's getting your egr all clogged up.

Makes sense, just don't expect the do be very helpful when you show them how it's physically plumbed up and ask them to explain their logic.

The EGR valve is after the turbo?

This is unacceptable - warranty work always warrants a courtesy car...! These guys are taking you for a ride, so to speak.

My car is out of warranty and I get a courtesy car free whenever my car is with Southern Land Rover in Perth. Mostly Freelander 2's and on the odd occasion a Volvo S60 (Barbagallo Holdings), but free none the less.

    Cheers,

    Lou
