If they all start driving the new Defender, then what will happen to the Range Rover Sport? Production will grind to a halt overnight... :D

Have you got a link to where that has been said? I've never read anything like that before.
Land Rover talks about having three 'pillars' in the brand - Range Rover (luxury), Discovery (leisure) and Defender (dual-purpose). The next Defender will almost certainly be built in JLR's new factory in Slovakia too, which suggests they'll look to keep a lid on the price.
I don't expect the Defender to cost much more than it does today (base price, anyway), but there'll be an extensive list of customisations to suit a variety of customers.
Land Rover have already said the defender will not be a cafe wannabe like the DC100,LR have already said the defender will not be based on the T5 platform,LR have already said the reason why the defender has been pushed back to 2018-19 is because they are starting off with a clean sheet design. If we are going to have a conversation lets base it on facts as we know them. Pat
Talk about same old boring stuff- here is a spy pick, they've just released details of the new Defender.

Looks like we'll have to put our own rivets in.
Hehehe love the veiled Disco yearnings. Keep fishing... You get more bites from defenderites if you publish that in the D4 forum (which says a LOT about the closet D4 yearnings a lot of defenderites have!)
Seriously!
Can we petition the management to:
- lock all existing "new defender" threads until at least 2018
- (exception only to MrLandy's "philosophical" thread on new defender)
- instantly incinerate any new "new defender" threads that pop up any time earlier than 1yr before the latest "new defender" expected launch date.
My personal opinion is that prior to 2018, or later if if new defender slips more, THE BEST forum for discussing the new defender is ..... In ANY Toyota focused fora.
