Mike.
Hey Inc, would these clamp things be suitable for my car?? Cause I haven't got much more room before I can't put my car in the garage and the awnings I've seen have also been higher up than the roof racks?? Or if anyone else can answer I have a 97 (I think) Pajero..
How does it hold up in strong winds?
It will outlast the awning after all the awnings are not too much good in strong winds never mind the mounting
Spoke to Arb and they tell you not to use their awning in strong winds and have plastic arm mounts that break in strong winds to protect the awning. Same with TJM and Tiger awnings.
Sorry I should have been more specific.
What I meant to ask was how does it hold up being attached directly to the car when the awning isn't out but it's bumpy on the track or excessively windy on the road?
The reason I ask this is because when we had our Open Sky awning on our previous car we were driving along a track and the thing fell off. Turned out the brackets were rubbish so we replaced them.
So I suppose the real question now that I've written it properly is how well do the brackets hold up under bumpy and windy conditions and would this have any damaging effect on the car?
