More people "rove" now than ever before.
People "explore" continents not just a continent.
Many farmers I know drive modern Range Rovers, Saharas and BMWs...
And keep the farm hacks right there...
Time marches on; technology improves and people's experiences now are no less real to them than any before them...
I hear you Tombie, each to their own and all life experiences are valid, agreed. Which also means its valid to question the direction things are going in, to critique the 'modern' culture of our times. This is not a criticism of any individual choices, it's a lament for what I see as a major change in Land Rover design ethos. ... I'm not convinced that the direction design and technology are going in has improved the world I live in, nor the experience of roving. It's kind of like minimalism vs clutter, or the more is more/less is more debate. More roving doesn't necessarily mean better quality roving. Infact, I'd beg to differ, I've seen less roving over the past few years, both across this continent and overseas, and more pre-determined destination tourism. Many may like this approach. I don't.
Have been advised by the dealer that my Heritage 110 has arrived at the dealer and will be available for collection next Tuesday
Its going to be a long weekend .........however I'll stay occupied by taking all the accessories of the current Defender ready for the transplant.
Anyone interested in a Nara Bronze LE 110![]()
I don't think so. It's more a case of Land Rover repositioning its various sub-brands. Defender, Discovery and Range Rover will be the three distinct tiers of product (which is why Land Rover has disappeared off many bonnets), offering different levels of luxury, affordability and raw capability.
With that in mind, I'll be really interested to see where Defender goes next. It'll be built to a price, but it'll also be built for a clear purpose. It won't look as charming as that special little Heritage 90, but I still think it'll appease the rover within![]()
How many Ltd did Au get? I read 130?
And would you keep it standard or mod it?
I collected my Heritage 90 SW this morning, & have been driving it here & there most of the day & it is now home. The dealer Southern Land Rover mentioned that they were only allocated 5 celebration Defender's, 4 Adventure's & mine is the only Heritage. I plan on keeping it standard but will remove rear seats & fit storage for a trip around Australia in a couple of years towing a caravan & with Oztent on Thule racks:
Interesting comment from a chap I met at a vineyard lunch spot on the way home: "That is immaculate for an old vehicle, what year is it?"![]()
