my MY13 110 has the issue of the rear door refusing to unlock with the remote, but unlocks with a key turn. I will ask for warranty fix on next service - but now the lever is getting really stiff to lift up, so i'll get LR to check also.
Recently I thought i'd check if my vehicle was locked when I thought it was. I tried the right passenger door. It opened! The alarm started blaring because it thought it was locked. The problem for me was the keys weren't anywhere near. The alarm aggravated a few people until I finally located the keys.
Seems like an actuator or solenoid thingy might have packed it in or loose wire - another fix from LR on next service
I can't be Robinson Crusoe here, so it could be worth checking to see if all doors lock on your vehicle when they are supposed to lock with the remote.

In all other regards, I'm very happy with the vehicle.
My rear door wouldn't lock with the central locking recently, but after locking and unlocking with the key a couple of times it now works again.
The rear drivers door however, will not lock due to something faulty, so I just lock it from the inside.
Well that was harder than it needed to be. Finally thought I'd have some spare time at Mums today, so packed up my tools in anticipation. Removed the lock and was about to start drilling when I thought I might just check the instructions that came with the spring....la la the spring was still sitting on my kitchen table, so I asked Mum nicely if she would sit in the back and hold the door shut while I drove home to get the spring and she said no, she was going to have a nana nap, she is so selfish sometimes :D So I'm fitting the lock back on when I could hear her locking the back door to the house, luckily she doesn't move too fast and I managed to bash on the door before she was out of screaming range. Raced home and grabbed the spring, then removed the lock again. Drilled out the rivets and emptied half a bucket of red dust from inside the unit, did the fiddley bit trying to shove and then gently stick the spring in, eventually managed that and got it stuck it all back together. Then nearly broke my wrist using the rivet gun and of course the whole thing dropped to the floor and fell apart :eek: so rebuilt it and had another go, my rivets look a bit dodgy but hold it together. Fitted it back on the door and turn the key, then turn the key again, then again to be sure and blimey the thing locks and unlocks :cool: :cool: :cool: just like a shop one
Glad you had more luck with your lock than I did. And only half a bucket of red dust.....I thought there was almost half the pilbara in mine :):) Car hasnt been back in the pilbara in 5 years and I'm still finding deposits of red dust in various places....

My driver's side passenger door also doesn't lock/unlock on the remote, but locks manually. The workshop looked at it at the 60,000 km service, replaced the actuator, but it still didn't work. They didn't charge me, but want the vehicle back at my convenience to get an electrician to look at it. Assuming the signal isn't reaching the lock.

Hi Shortie , you did It ! It took a while but you got there . I pleased you had a go . Now you have a lock that works . Yes those rivets do snap with a bit of a bang on the wrist . Jim :)
Coming back from CookTown by rear lock seized up at Gin Gin, so no coffee break, pedal to the metal to get to BOR before they closed up. They cleverly unlocked the side window [bigwhistle] leaned in and opened it from the inside, my brain must have been road numb. So thanks BOR, forgot to mention, the cargo barrier makes it more fun
Sunday same story again, same solution, took the trim off and gave it a good blast with WD40, seems much better now, maybe an annual service item.
Now those little plastic fir trees for the trim [bighmmm] , are they a LR specialty or generic, and does anyone what ot ask for. I think i need to get some in stock before my next trim misadventure.
When you look at the rear door handle/ locking mechanisum they are like something out of the dark ages . There very simple , but poor quality as well ? They seem to suck dust into the inside drieing up any lubrication and clogging the workings. I wouldn't think whoever designed them would still be working at Land Rover due to his age . So maybe the next generation Defender will have improved a bit ? Jim [smilebigeye]
