Whats your PUMA fuel economy like

I just got back from 4600km round trip - Geelong to Fraser Island and back - with the following figures

4598km
533L
= 11.6 L/100km.

That is a 2.4L 110, 235/85R16 Cooper ST Maxx, roof rack + awning, moderately loaded with fridge, batteries, clothes, supplies (but no camping gear), doing 110km/h most way with a few solid days on the beaches of Rainbow Beach and Fraser Island.

I am a realist and was pretty happy with those figures. Would love to get a remap mainly to turn off the EGR for longevity reasons. Followed by upgraded intercooler etc.

Around town these figures blow out to 14 or so L/100km, however.

Never under 12 ltr/100 klms(maybe 11.2 once,up to 17-18 on heavy and slow off-roading)
Never under 110 klms speed on highway.
Never under 2.7 tonnes weight.
Never without the puma even with heavy city traffic so average is mixed driving.
2.4 tuned,big intercooler,decated,external roll cage,lifted,tyres from 32's to 34's,etc
Almost 100k klms now-only last 20 in my hands.

Noticed your location. What is impressive is driving a Defender in Athens! We had a family holiday to Greece a few years ago and drove from Athens to the Pelopannes. Very different to Western Australia!

12 to 16l/100. Standard contis with full length roof rack bull bar winch, water tank etc. worst figures are for towing camper tailer. It's a 2.4 Ali sport intercooler and bas remap.
In January got back from a trip to Esperance using our other car 120 series prado 3.0 diesel kz and was using 24 l/100 towing the same camper trailer at the same speeds. Stopped to see if I had a fuel leak[emoji15]

My old 130 Tdi used no fuel in comparison to these new engines. She had a pump tweak and that's about all could still maintain 110km/h and could not hear the wife talk. Sorry I sold it really[emoji56]

Im with chook.
Never made the 10.5 or even close, and that was before a very similar set up to chooks. Weight, tyre size, mods.

Last trip we where getting 14/100 for most of it(450/tank)
2.2 with no power modifications towing a off road van and tyres on 28psi on the dirt.
Roof rack had 2 tyre carcases and steel bull bar, draws etc..
Weighed in at 4.050 tons all up doing 100Km/h black top and @60Km/h dirt.


Another Puma with us towing a No5 trailer was doing very similar figures.

My 2008 130 twin cab roughly 676km per tank at around 100km.

Thats carrying bull bar,winch,roof rack and rear canopy........:D

To put all that into perspective,owners of other makes are happy to get our figures driving unloaded.My stock 2.4 returned 11.9 towing our camper two weeks ago running 265/75/16's at 100-110. Pat

Yeh not sure about that Pat. Bloke at work got 8.8lt/100 in his 4x4 triton. Standard truck, HT tires, 4 people, back full of suitcases under a fibreglass canopy on the black top. He tows a drag car around the joint and says he doesn't crack 11. My mate with a Challenger tows a 1.5T trailer, has mud tires, same motor and reckons he doesn't go under 12. It's all hear say in some ways.
To me it is what it is...you pay it or don't go.

The DiD motor is very under rated IMHO,the D4D series will never get near those figures. Pat
