I believe Murray does the rear wheel carrier in kit form. Mine was the first so he fitted it for free so he could take photos. My D90 is now in the Port Douglas area at Mowbray if you wanted to look. I think he might have joined the Cairns Club.

The inlaws cant get in (what am I saying that is a good thing ).
Seriously though I am 6 foot 3 inches and I still need to slide off the seat which is not good for the seat at all and it time it will get damaged so I want a step of some sort to prevent this.

Have you checked out the factory side steps? We optioned them from new, & reckon it'd be much more difficult to get in & out without them.

Rijidij for wheel carrier, for steps i went landybitz, a strong unit, fits snugly, but not a huge help for getting in or out. Still trying to decide if i lead with my left foot or right. Really needs a grab handle at a good location. Like on the A pillar
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

My Puma came with factory side rails because the dealer threw them in, but I would have gone the Mulgo ones and still might eventually. I am looking at the Rijidij tyre carrier and Mulgo rear steps, I would prefer other steps with rounded edges, but don't know if they fit with Murray's carrier. I have a Kaymar tyre carrier on my TDi and it is a pain to operate separately.

One of the reasons I favoured the Mantec wheel carrier over the Ridjidij was the Ridjidij seemed to need a fair bit more work to put togoether than the Mantec, which was easy, even for me.

On rear steps, I rather fancy the NAS American style one from Extreme:

Extreme 4x4 Ltd NAS REAR STEP WITH TOW BAR

I think it would make it a lot easier for my wife, who is short, to get in the back of the 110.

Extreme 4x4 was Scrap Iron Racing - I'd avoid anything made by them!!

Speak to APT - They can knock something up similar that will be a lot stronger and better built...

Yes, you may be right. Its a bit down my wish list so when I get some other things done I'll investigate further. Actually, I might put the hard word on my brother, who is an aluminium fabricator, to see what he can do.
I'd actually prefer something which was shorter than the Extreme one, maybe a similar width to the rear door, and bolted straight onto the bumper, above the tow bar, so I could stand on it and reach the roof rack. I don't like the ones which are just wide enough for one foot, as I would like to be able to stand on it with both feet and even move my feet around a bit. So I guess I'm thinking maybe a simple L-shaped piece with a flat step and a back which bolts onto the bumper using the existing holes. The corners of the step should be trimmed to avoid banging the shins on it. Can't be that hard. Should be a lot cheaper too.

    Hi Chris.
I had Land Rover side runners fitted to mine when I went back for the check up service. They sit a bit lower than the strip under the doors. They're not as strong as proper sliders but they are still pretty tough. They are a help getting in, but I still find my self sliding out. I'm 3/4 inch shorter than you.
    Cheers, Billy.
    Keeping it simple is complicated.

I can't decide between the Rijidij carrier with two wheels or wheel and jerry cans to be honest. It looks to be one of the few that swing with the door, and one of the more attractive ones.
And how much assembly is required? Does anyone have a photo of it straight from the supplier?

I'm probably going to go with the APT Rock Sliders with the optional alloy tread plates instead of side steps, but I think I'll end up with most of their protection stuff for my Defender.
