Goudgey - got ya.
No justification required - you're heart set on a defender and you would like us to talk you into it right? Cos if you want to be talked out of it you could try a jeep forum.
Buy a Defender 90 Goudgey, you know you want to!
Have you driven one? maybe take one for a test drive first, and then buy it.
And seeing as you are now looking to buy, check out this thread on what to look out for (theres lots of info to be found using the google search at bottom of page):

welcome to the forum :)
Yep, you've got me alright Manic. I guess I am looking for justification of my decision :)
I've not driven one as yet. It's on the cards to happen very soon though.
Thanks for the link to the what to look out for thread, greatly appreciated!
Hey my daily driver is a serries III with springs and no power steering :o :D Go the 90 if I had the money I would buy one;)
Mrs hh:angel:
Life's too short to drive a boring car, you can drive a toyota when your dead :D.
I don't see the problem.
The 90 is a great city car. We bought one because once we were ready to start putting accessories on the 110 we weren't going to be leaving it at train stations whilst we were at work to get broken into. So we bought a 90 to drive as a daily driver. Plus we wanted to be able to drive a Defender all the time. This way we have a choice 90 or 110 :D. We win all round.
Plus we have a spare tow vehicle if the 110 breaks down.
Plus their awesome off road if you get the urge.
Plus...
Not sure I can add anything else that hasn't already been said except for - I love my 90!
I drive my 110 as a daily driver into Perth from East Fremantle. I always choose it over my wife's Volvo XC60. Also my wife regularly drives it as well (yesterday we even discussed the potential of having a 90 as well!) so don't talk yourself out of it.
Also we had an S40 a while back so I can speak from experience. Great car (we had the T4 and it was quite nippy).
Anyway, a Defender is poles apart from a Volvo but as you can see from above I would choose it any day.
Also how many waves do you get from other Volvo drivers?

When I lived in Sydney and Melbourne I did a lot of city driving in the 90. You get better fuel economy around town. Be careful if you put roof racks on it if you need to park in under cover car parks. Get the road orientated tyres and put some sound proofing in it. Adjust the steering as previously mentioned. Don't back into carparks that have walls behind them if you want to get stuff out of the back or you have passengers. Enjoy the looks of jealousy very day as you commute.
