Beery- most of the reviews I've seen about Bilsteins say they're a bit stiff. Thought perhaps cheap ones like Gabriel might be the opposite. No luck

Surely Bilstein do differently valved versions.
But I think Summiitt makes a good point. The 130 is a commercial vehicle with a 7 ton GCM running on basically a 30 year old chassis design. Designed to give its best with a load on.

Hi pete , When you look under a 90, 110, 130, or R/R classic , Disco 1 , G wagon , or Nissan Patrol . They all have the same basic design underneath . Some ride great others like cart's . With the 130 as you say 95% your unloaded , and would like it to ride softer . I'm sure you should be able to get it to ride like a Limo . After all It has the wheel base . The front shouldn't be to difficult , after all three Defenders are pretty much the same at the front , It's the rear that is hard , when unloaded . Shocks are the thing I would be looking at . Keep going on your research , one thing you will find is this will be a good learning lesson for you . Don't spend any money till you find what you think will suit's you . You will get what you wont , but It may take a bit of time . Good luck . please let us know how you go ? Jim :)

You beat me to it. ...Koni raids on their softest (from factory) setting offer the smoothest ride for an unladen defender. They are also the most durable. They're expensive but the best. Also run tyres at 30psi.Quote:
