Not a defender, but I understand! my favourite reaction to our SIIa was from this happy group of Taiwanese tourists!

Sometimes the quizzical looks just say it all... today:

A hot black lowered commodore ute, the driver was getting out of his car...I was driving past and I saw him watch me all the way past and down the road, and get this, he was shaking his head!

A bloke in a Mazda ute at the servo, kept glancing over, one eye brow raised 😊 I said how are you mate? Then he just nodded approval and said, 'cool'.

It's an intriguing phenomenon, the grudging approval nod. ...and more prevalent since news of end of production.

Its interesting how many little boys stop whatever they're doing to watch when you drive past n a Defender.

I get a lot of coments like nice car, have you towed with it yet. To which I answer yes, then I get my friends mate blew this when he towed in a Defender, I ask was it a Puma motor ie a new one they dont know.

He was probably thinking, "I didn't know they ran on unleaded". Sorry

haha, I had a similar thing today at the Rob Roy Hill Climb.
Heading in to car park, the guy gets to me and says "Well I guess you can go down the hill on the left there, you'll be able to get out of anything "
    Made my day

The last comment I had about me Defender was when I went up to Hotham a few weeks ago. Arrived into the resort daytime carpark at about midnight and was met by a young lad who came out of the office exclaiming "nice car" (actually as he was a snowboarding yoof, he probably said "rad/sick truck, man", but I'm an old git and I can't remember...).
He asked where we were staying and after I told him, he said that the over-snow skidoo luggage service wasn't running, it being midnight, and that strictly speaking we'd have to walk up to our hotel. But not to worry, "There's no-one around to stop you, this thing will easily make it, just drive up that 'path' over there".

An invitation to drive up a steep, fresh snow covered hill.....
