Hello Ben, & welcome to the Forum, you are REALLy going to enjoy your Defender, & the valuable info you can obtain on here.
"February Build",.....do you mean February "Delivery" to Warnambool (to you), as I think actual Defender "build" finishes in December this year.
Black Roof?...Not for me. I like the white idea.
Whilst others seem to have differing opinions, I can give you an example of "black & white", in the heat. Many years ago We were on an outing with friends, I had a black car at the time, my friend's was the same model, except his was white. Both of our cars were parked in the sun......the roof of my car was so hot, you could've fried an egg on it, whereas his was cool.
Of course I didn't have a thermometer, but the heat in the roof would have to be transferred to the car's interior, but not a problem I suppose, if ya've got good A/C. The A/C in our 90 is OK, but not great, and on a warm day, in a loaded 110, it may be flat out keeping the rear passengers cool I reckon.....so, I'd be going for the white roof.
Not saying the black roof wouldn't "look" better to some, it'd probably look pretty smart,....but for Aussie heat, I like white.
    Just my opinion, Pickles.

Congratulations, I've just done the same thing. Is that Feb delivery or Feb build?

I think metallic colours look best with a body coloured roof, while solid colours look best with a white roof, so I would go for the grey.

In my opinion, a black roof looks best with the full black pack.

    Cheers,
    Jon

    Hi Ben,

I picked up my 90 mid April in Corris with the Black Roof that came with the "Black Pack" (sawtooth rims, front grill, flares, internal dash and headliner etc) - all comes down to personal taste...

I like the look but cant comment on heat as I am yet to experience a summer - certainly no issues in winter!

    Cheers,

    Grimey

That is because of the difference in the area of glass and the slope of the glass in the windscreen.

I've got a Black 110 with the Silver Pack Was quite comfy in Birdsville last September
Do consider the Black Pack if you want it to look smick.

Surprised noone has dragged out the old Keswick Green / White Combo
By all means get a Defender. If you get a good one, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

I was a bit worried about how my all black Defender would fare (especially as the wife wanted silver). In the end it as no problem over the last very hot WA summer. In fact my AC works so well we need to open the windows to regulate the temp (mine seems to be all on or all off). Same with the heater.

You should just go with what you want!

'Mulgo' brand seat runner extender bars are the way to go.
Sorry can't advise on child seat anchors.

Otherwise keep it simple is my advice. No need for excessive mods IMO, it's already perfect! ...All I've done is upgrade shocks to Koni Raids because I drive heaps of corrugated inland roads. ...I'd also like to add a RidjiDidj rear wheel carrier to take the weight off the rear door when I find the cash.

Enjoy the wait! and all the excellent advice and generosity of this extraordinary online community. Cheers

Hey Mr Landy, I followed your (and others) advice and ordered the Mulgo extender bars. The best way to carry the spare wheel was like on my old 2A - fixed onto the bonnet! I imagine having a spare wheel on the bonnet these days would be illegal! That and imagine telling the wife im drilling holes in the bonnet of a 60k car so I can move the spare wheel!!

    Hi Pickles,

Sorry youre right December build, feb delivery. Production finishes on December 20th I read somewhere? I drove a 2A for my first car, loved it and then bought an old rangy but always said that one day I would get a defender. My wife was watching Postcards and Rebecca Judd said they were finishing the defender production and my wife foolishly told me of this and said it was now or never if I wanted a new one! Bless her good intentions

Hi Ben and welcome. Mine is Corris Grey with a Santorini Black Roof. I reckon Black looks better on it than White, but, probably is hotter. However you are having a roof rack. Presumably, it will most often have enough stuff on it to shade most of the roof. If so, then black becomes the cooler colour, because just as black absorbs heat better it also gives it off better. As air passes over it it will take heat away, thus cooling the vehicle. Mine also has a sun hatch, which also makes the car hotter. Actually, glass area is probably a more significant factor regarding interior air temperature than is paint colour.

    Cheers Billy.

    Keeping it simple is complicated.
