    County heater repair

Anyone done a reco of their heater/aircon box on a county. I look like moving on my County dualcab pretendie shortly now that I have my 6BY up to spec and will probably have to have the heater/demister in working condition to transfer the rego. As most will appreciate heaters are not exactly popular up here in the north and mine hasn't worked for some years although the original aircon still works fine. The heater worked good when I first acquired the vehicle back in the early 90"s but through lack of use the valve froze up and I have never bothered sorting it out. I have disconnected the vacuum controls to the heater/aircon panel and blocked off the intake on the LH guard so the aircon only works on recycle due to the rubber connection bit behind the controls disintegrating (apparently pretty common) and the foam rubber seals on the control flaps falling apart. I have a good condition replacement rubber connector here and will fit it but would appreciate any input into how to replace the heater valve and what vacuum line goes into which hole/port in the rubber connector.

The rubber seals on the flaps aren't that hard to replace. If if you want some foam, I have plenty as I bought a sheet when I did my County. I forget what I had to do to the heater controls. Something had broken and it needed repair.

I also had to repair one of the flap servos as the rivets had pulled out.

If you pull the dash, photograph and sketch the pneumatic tubes where the plug into the control panel. Ask me how I know.

How do I remove this County dash?

Thanks Ron, The foam rubber is not a problem, that's easy to replace, The cable to the heater valve ceased working on mine when the heater valve "froze up" through lack of use and no doubt I will have to dismantle the heater/aircon box to replace the valve. I will photograph the rubber connection tomorrow and hopefully someone will know what coloured vac line goes into what port on the connector so all the flaps work as designed. At the moment I have the dash vent flaps held open with tek screws.

Thanks again Ron, some good info there especially the diagram of what vac lines go where into the rubber connector.
