Thread: Defender ordered - now dealer says deal has changed

Yep, ask them to put it in wiring - verbal advice is worthless. Then tell them you consider they have admitted fault and insist they honour their contract. If they say the vehicle has to come wth the extras you don't want, then its at their expense.

    Tom.
    Cheers for the advice.
I would be happy to go toe to toe with them and nail them to the contract they created, just to achieve some justice. But at the same time this is my first ever Defender and it also means something if the purchase experience is a positive one because it's starting what's going to be a rest-of-my-life experience on a high note.
So as much as I want them to do the right thing, I also want to do a deal with someone who's happy to take my money, straightforward and I can then recommend to others myself.

The funny thing is I don't want these extras at all.
I have no idea where this extra chequerplate kit would be stuck.
I don't know what kind of bullbar it is.
    I don't want side protectors.

I want a basic 110 that I can then build up myself, like everyone else on here does.

Hence this wasn't explained to me and wasn't on the contract.

Now, I have the choice of either accepting this pack, or pulling out of the contract - because the vehicle must come with the extras.

Will ponder overnight what I want to do, but not feeling good about this deal right now.
I'd be emailing back to them that your happy to be accepting the vehicle at the contracted price and any extras are at their expense as you are not responsible for them not training their staff correctly.

Although, both our Defender contracts were taken to the Dealer Principle for signing prior to us signing the contract.

Personally, I'd be contacting other dealers and explain your situation and see if anyone else is prepared to do you the same deal as your original deal and see if you can negotiate a hold until you get this contract torn up.

As this is your first Defender, you want to enjoy the experience as much as possible and even if you have a long drive home you'll enjoy the drive a lot more if your dealing with a dealer who wants to sell to you.

    El Ray,

This is the cruise control we had fitted, there are other stalk options and positions but this allowed switches to go in the other position!

This is why it's not mounted in this spot

    Good thinking here.

Yes! A long drive would be an excellent way to start everything off.

Hah! Very nice. Did you buy it yourself and give it to the dealer to install?
