Even now I get talked at and not too, if I didn't want this car as much as I do I would have cancelled the order and bought a good used one, they have not been the best to deal with, can't wait to get the questionnaire from LR Australia.
In a way I am glad the Defender production is ending as I don't like the looks (and the price) of any of the other models!
That's really no good is it.

I don't mind the look of some other Rover vehicles, but I don't love any of them like the Defender. The only other Land Rover vehicle I have any interest in is the future Defender - and whether it can continue the legend.

I purchased mine from Austral in April and all went well. Joe was my salesperson and he seemed quite reasonable. To be honest I was quite satisfied with the service overall.

However, I recently dropped by the service department to ask about a couple of issues and the service guy that helped me told me (even though he mentioned that he wasn't suppose to) that my Rhino roof bars will void my warranty and best to remove them before I drop it in for my first scheduled service. Surely, this is overly protective of their warranty program.

All the best with getting 'YOUR' Defender El Rey!

When I was fitting my Rhino roof bars I noticed a crack in the seams on the front part of the roof. We took it back to the dealer to get photos of the cracks with the roof bars fitted they didn't mention anything. It was fixed under warranty without a hassle.

Sounds like the dealer is trying to get out of future warranty claims.

In regards to the original issue.

If you don't get any satisfaction with LRA it may be worthwhile going to Consumer Protection with the emails they've sent saying they have another buyer. Sounds like they've had someone walk in and ask for that particular deal and they've decided they can make more money.

The question is do you trust them to look after you and your new baby on delivery?

That's the problem, I've had that niggle in the back of my mind since I signed the order, just don't feel comfortable dealing with them.

Yes, if their first contact with you is like this - you start to question everything that follows.

I find this all very depressing and I hope it resolves itself in your favour. I've had rubbish service on the last two new cars I've bought , so bad in fact that I've decided to buy private next time , at least I'll get some honest dishonesty. Good luck.
    cheers,

You could just call their bluff.

walk in with a copy of your contract of purchase complete with your proof of deposit a copy of their emails from the sales man saying thatthey have another buyer for your vehicle with the "run out pack" Ask specifically to speak to the manager

advise them that since the defender is no longer on the chopping block, yours has been optioned up and is not what you want that they can sell on the vehicle to the guy who wants one in the exact specification you want with the run out pack and you'll take one that doesn't have the pack, let it be known that if they cant provide the vehicle specified in the contract by the date provided on the contract that you'll happily take the one with the option pack for no extra cost and will consider that fair payment for not taking them to court for breach of contract.

I know its what I did.
