UPDATE on what's happening.
- Contacted Land Rover Australia - the guy I spoke to gave me his name and a reference number and said he's contacting the SE Qld Regional Manager to see what he says.
- Sent an email to the ACCC to see what they say
- Contacted the Office of Fair Trading who said I need to work it out with the dealer or get independent legal advice.
- Contacted Land Rover UK who said they passed my details on the Land Rover Australia.
- Planning to call Motortorque on ABC Radio Night Life tonight, to see if that car guy can give any advice.
- Emailed salesman to say I'm in touch with LR Australia to try and get the extras removed and he replied 'OK thanks'.
The noisy wheel gets attention.....Well Done!
Keep it simple perhaps: emailing salesman/dealership a link for the last 8 pages of outrage and negative reaction to dealership responsible?
Maintain the rage, and good luck
Rich.
I'd actually keep all this under your hat!
I also just consulted with a solicitor who looked at the contract I signed and had this to say:
'...it appears to me to be a binding agreement, with all material terms agreed, including specific accessories (and the price of these accessories).
There is clause 2 - price, which allows the dealer to increase the price.. where there are changes to statutory charges...
There does not appear to be any right for the dealer to force you to pay extra (for accessories you have not asked for, and are not listed in the Contract), or to ask you to increase your deposit.'
