I have used Thermobreak closed cell foam to cover the entire fotwells and cargo space, the result is amazing both for the heat and sound reduction.
My advice is to use the type that comes with an upper aluminum foil and glue on the bottom side.
Cut templates before cutting the foam to ensure correct fit and minimal waste of material.

Both products are relatively inexpensive and do a fantastic job at reducing noise and heat. Topping all this off, I used horse stall matting and cut to fit for my floor mats. Stall mat was around $35 USD for a 4'x6'x3/4" sheet.
In addition to the above, I purchased a Disco II bellhousing cover (TVQ100160). You'll have to pull the airbox and it's a bit fiddly to get in. I was swapping my xfer case and replacing my clutch/flywheel/et al.... so just placed it on top of the bellhousing. This significantly reduced the "chatter" from the tunnel area.

Does anyone else have the problem of water getting under the rubber and foam mats in their footwells, sitting there for awhile and then start to get stale?
A bit tedious to pull them out everytime and air them to dry. Maybe I need a spare weekend to attack the rain leaks into the cabin.
I used to have a river pouring in my cab. Then replaced the scuttle vent seals, and silkaflexed the roof gutters (PO had a roof rack which tore them up). That stopped the water ingress.Quote:

An advice to make the installation easier, locate all the bolts mounts with large nails before gluing the sheet as finding them will be difficult once the area is covered.
I also replaced all rusted bolts and nuts with galvanized ones.
