Great and timely read. My thanks to all contributors. My noise not as bad as some by the sound of it, but amazingly intermittent. Fitted grease nipple and greased a week ago, slowly improved since, but does sound like the spring to me, which has obviously been oiled in the past (Dealer or Previous Owner??) so gave it a good dose of Coppercoat at the same time. Either way, quick and simple for some improvement.

Over the years, every time one method works I think great, will use that next time..... a few jobs later and that next one it doesnt work.
I fit to new Defender when they come in a grease nipple on the end of that shaft and give the whole lot a lube, it generally saves them.
Once the pedal has started the old Defender squeak, its pot luck if any method works.
You then need to go down the path Samblers has done, good write up too by the way.

and image paying your Land Rover specialist to do the above job?
Most Defender owners say "what squeak????"

Today I managed to go and by some grease nipples and some grease to install on the side of the clutch pedal box.
Type of grease I bought is general purpose as per attachment.
Would this be ok for this purpose and also can I use this anywhere else on the vehicle.
