Starting to look the goods! the top corners of the bar wont block with indicator? How much are you roughly looking at for these bars? just got a rack and radio so funds are a bit short at the minute but would be interested a bit later on! Look forward to seeing it fitted!

.. it's gonna look rad.
The profile of the top bar is drawn over a template of the front end and designed to wrap around the lights. Also in the pic above the lights are upside down. The indicator which is arguably the important one of the two is the lower light where there's more space and visibility.
Really looking forward to seeing the real thing

Got the top bar in and Murray has tacked it together and will test it on his 130. We're both keen to check it out on the defender and see it come together

My opinion is irrelevant but it's for free, it would look good if it squared around the headlights instead of the angle back at 45•
If that makes sense ❓

Looks the goods! Looks exactly as originally describes - A modern interpretation of a camel bar. Very distinctive different from the pack bar. Awesome job

Looks the goods, but for feedback sake, I would tend to agree with Babs, love the simplistic look across top. Concerned about the bar blocking the blinker. If it came 90 degrees at the ends to match the squareness of the front I would buy one tomorrow , great effort [emoji1360]

Thanks for all the feedback on the bar, I'm always open to constructive comments about new products and design.
Regarding the indicators, we intend to swap them to the top position so they're a little less obstructed, not as vital for the side lights. Having seen the bar on my Defender, the lights are not much more obstructed than most other bars with an upright to the outside.
As is often the case, the bar looks much better in the flesh than in pictures. I'm looking forward to seeing it finished and on the Defender.
Cheers, Murray

Thanks for the feedback folks. Yes it was a bit tricky choosing the angle that the bar came back down on, to hit the base bar. I was trying to merge the classic camel trophy hoop with the winch base. It comes down at 45. I quite like the slightly aggressive 45deg up-slope. Maybe a bit more obtuse like 60deg would have worked well. If it came down square with the sides it wouldn't be a camel hoop any more! :)
There is a bit of a pinch on the radius - I think there was some limitations about the size of the radius too, from the benders.
Anyway that's what a prototype is all about I guess!
I think it will come together visually more too once all black from the powder coat....my defender has black headlight surrounds too so we'll see how it looks over that.
I recon like any bull bar it obscures indicators a bit from some angles but it's functional. Will see how that tests. !
Really looking forward to fitting it - will post more pics then.

Well i am pleased to say I had a chance to pick up the bull bar and its come up a treat. Lovely fabrication by Murray as usual, and a ripper winch base he makes.
I was pretty chuffed seeing it...better than i imagined really. The fat 60mm tube looks just right and it sits on the defender most comfortably...Not overwhelming the front end. Frames it nicely and seems to gel well with the lines of the car. A success I think. I'm popping up a couple of pics. Hard to take a nice snap of a bull bar with phone cameras and their wide lenses that make things look goofy. Anyway check out the new-camel-goods !!
