Defender Auto update: And Info wanted

Some time ago I replaced the 5 speed in a 300 TDI defender with an auto and transfer out a Disco. Just some feed back for those who are interested in the mod.

I have had nil problems other then cooking the Auto when I blew a hose in the middle of North Qld and had to drive 50 klm with minimal oil in Transmission.

The drive-ability was good and chugged along at approximately 2000 rpm at 100 kph. I drove it to the Cape with no issues fully loaded and was happy how it pulled up the Ranges on the way. When required I just pulled it into third to hold the gear. I have recently gone back to a defender Transfer case for no other reason then i am an compulsive fiddler when it come to my Rover.

My opinion is that even though i have gained 500 rpms on my doggy tacho 2500 rpm at 100 kph speed spot on with speedo and gps. The defender seems to run so much better and smoother. Take off is much quicker and engine seems less stressed. ( Perhaps not lugging as much)

Now the info part: Im running a B&M Auto shifter which works fine but would like to fit a disco selector to keep things land rover orientated. Does anyone have pictures or advice on how to fit a disco selector with minimal fuss without spending heaps on a centre consul. Happy with fitting it to the centre panel where middle seat was. Photos would be appreciated.

Yes the auto conversion transforms the defender. I'll get some oics of the shifter mounted on the centre plate where the condole was in the last one we did ( just been sold) tomorrow .
