Have you guys seen that doco on youtube about people who "love" their cars? I forget the actual name but they interview a coupla guys who have no wives but make up for it with their car.... sorta made you lot wiping a spec of dust off a bit macho really. :D

More love in the world is a good thing. It actually makes you more of a man. As does openly sharing the love on a forum like this. But we Defender lovers already knew that.

TD5 owner here, but had to chime in about the seating position...
I love it and think it's one of the most practical and comfortable driving positions in a car there is. I have a pretty dodgy back (how many carpenters don't) and after a hard days work, can jump in, drive 30 - 45 minutes home and feel great at the end. In my previous ute, a Navara, I would be stiff as a board and in pain. I don't know how anyone can think being folded over like a taco is a comfortable position to be in for any amount of time.
When I first saw it in a movie when I was 7, I made a dream to own one of these great cars. Nowadays, I realized my dream and always keep my Ruby in good condition. Compared to my daily drive car, the VW Touareg. It's road manner isn't that sharp. And compared to my working tojo ute, it's not that Bullet-proof and roomy. But, it's just full of fun and it's the only car that can involve myself in driving for every second. It is the friend that I will keep forever.

We've been lucky enough to have owned a few "interesting" cars in our time, mostly V8s, & mostly relatively fast, which Gracie definitely is not.......but We're having more fun in her than any of the others. If anyone had told me, not so long ago, that I could enjoy driving so much with only 90KW at my disposal, I would not have believed them.
Why is it?...Don't really know,...a combination of things I suppose, ...the history?,...it's our "specially ordered one from Solihull"!,....the fact We really have to "Drive" it?, ......it's different?.....I don't know,....it's not our "everydayer",...I don't think she'd be suitable for that, (for us anyway,..Wifey has an Audi S3 for that, which is a pretty nippy little car), so when We do drive her, it's usually for a drive, going away etc etc, but the thought of being in Gracie, is something We both look forward to, and makes us smile.

I use mine every day, to and from work, shops, daycare for the little bloke, dog carrier, garden rubbish to the green dump, and of course the off-road play it was designed for.
Every trip = big smile :D
