Cargo Barrier - Advantage or not ?

Yeah I think this is the problem. Our 90 was only 5 months old when it happened but it was on the way home from an outback trip involving lots of dust. LR replaced the lock at next service but it since happened again, fob won't unlock but key with some gentle persuasion will. Now we're out of warranty I'll probably make more of an effort to investigate next time but I guess the best tip is to keep it clean.

EDIT: Just to clarify, pretty sure it is crud because once you do unlock it, in our case anyway, it works fine again until some random time later.

My solution was to remove the lock/handle assembly complete & wash it on a container of diesel fuel. Dry off & coat with a Teflon based spray available from good locksmiths. Don't use WD40 or graphite as these both attract dust.

You can also use the Teflon spray, shock has a fast evaporating propellant, too lubricate your lock barrels including your ignition barrel.

The cargo barrier at 5:06 in this youtube clip looks very impressive.
If I understand his muffled voice over, its customized or custom.

He seems quite security-focused, with this locking barrier, Pentagon Supaglass and window grills.

NOTE: He also removed the bulkhead and put in that tubular bar in instead.

Discovered wd40 ptfe for locks etc at burnings, then discovered I had my Png wallet and no t m y Oz one. :(. Also at supercheap

Perfect... Thanks - yes grab handles.

I too have an autosafe one and find it great. I removed the rear seats in my 110 and had them custom make me one to fit behind the front seats. Great to deal with the whole way through, and very easy install at home. Uses existing mounting points. The only modification was to drill out the grab handle holes a little larger. If you're interested I'll post pics

I would also like to give a huge wrap to Autosafe. I built a frame and false floor in the back of my 110, and I keep my spare under the false floor in the cargo bay.

I called Autosafe, then emailed them some photos and measurements. About a week later I had my new custom made cargo barrier! I found this to be quite staggering turnaround for a custom item in this day and age. It fits behind the rear seats and on top of the false floor.

If you check out my 110 in "Members Rides" (Keswick Green called Agnes) you can see photos showing my rear cargo area with barrier installed.

The most difficult thing I found when installing the barrier was getting my fingers behind the trim to hold washers etc where the grab handles used to be.

The barrier is very solid and I'm glad I got it.

One advantage of having a cargo barrier would be that you can fit that slimline water tank that slots between the barrier and the back of the rear seats.

Thanks El Rey, I like the thought of the water tank. Do you have one ?, I assume all cargo barriers would allow the tank to fit ?.
