Non genuine Land Rover fuel filter

Here are the innards of a "Fleetmaster" diesel filter from a 2.4 Puma after being removed after one year. It is made by "Stanadyne" in the US of A. The inner core filter is well constructed and the cleats are evenly spaced and securely fixed by a metal strip down one side to hold the inner element in shape. I wanted to show the construction of the inner filter but the cut made by my hacksaw made a mess of the cleats.
Here is a new replacement filter branded "Mahle" also made by "Stanadyne" in the US of A.
It carries the same "Stanadyne" markings on the bottom as the "Fleetmaster" so they are identical
All of these brands i.e. "Mahle", "Fleetmaster" and "Stanadyne" can be bought for a very competive price compared to the "Land Rover" fuel filter which has in the past been made for them by "Stanadyne". I do not know who the current "Land Rover" supplier is as I have not examined a "Land Rover" filter recently.
You pays your money and makes your own decisions but I have no bother using a non "Land Rover" branded filter that carries the "Mahle," "Fleetmaster" or "Stanadyne" branding.

What's the price? My genuine filter for our 2.4 cost exactly $100 from a dealer.

I've just calculated that four Mahle fuel filters plus delivery to Australia from Advanced Factors would cost you 151.28 AUD.

I have always held Mahle in high regard and never hesitated using them.

Although the other two brands you mention I have never heard of, if they are made by the same mob, as you say, they would be ok.

Same markings and patent info on the bottom including the Stanadyne "S" type symbol. Just a different paint job. I would not use cheap or suspect stuff myself.

I have been buying from a Stanadyne a Standadyne 36995 filter to replace land rovers WJI 500040, both made in the USA. It cost $49 and has an orange and white fleetmaster paint job, instead of LR's black and white paint job at $70 to $100 depending where you get it. I change it ever 10K with the oil, in my mind probably the more important part of the discussion.

Also stated using Ryco R2663P oil filter to replace LR's 030778. It cheaper and more available, and should be the same from a reputable company.
Still working on engine oil. At $20 a litre for 10K klm, I now days think LR's choice is probably about trying to meet EU emission standards more so than longevity of engines. Again frequency with any oil that meets spec will do the job instead of keep the genuine feeling, and the wallet empty.
