So, where on earth is this Code hiding because is not in the manual or in any other paperwork?

The Defender does not have an EKA Sir, according to most dealers. But it does so just contact this gentleman:

Supposedly handed over with the vehicle. I never got mine with the vehicle. Started asking a couple of years ago and the journey went like this:
- Land Rover Malaysia (LRM) said they'd have to ask LR UK.
- LR UK don't have records for vehicles shipped out CKD for assembly overseas, so would enquire of Lord Lucas to see if they had it on file
- Lucas also don't keep a record.
- Asked why cant LRM just hook up their LR diagnostics computer, and read the EKA from the security module. Apparently Nanocom devices can do that.
- LRM diagnostics computer couldn't read the EKA
- bought myself a Nanocom. It wouldn't, and still won't, even talk to my ECUs at all. Useless paperweight for 2yrs I have owned it.

- LRM and LR decide to replace all my ECUs (engine, security, instrument) with new, with known EKA.
- change of plans... Some new idea how to read my EKA with LR diagnostics
- didn't work
- waiting on new ECUs

Throw in a few months between every step above and it's taken more than 2yrs to still not yet have an EKA for my vehicle.

(And I really want it... Cos we do go deep jungle, where elephants, drunk cooks, and tigers/bears/panthers roam)

Typical of many dealers, they are good at using apprentices only to make things worse than they were without fixing problem.
They couldn't even reset the Ecu after service and kept on getting service message.[emoji16]

The service message you can reset yourself.... No tools needed.

1. Ignition ON, press both brake and accelerator pedal full down for 15 seconds

2. Oil light starts to flash.

3. Turn the ignition OFF and leave it for a minute

4. Job done.

The MY15 hand book I have is different to the one Tact put up. And my fob looks different to the one in the picture in the pdf.

In mine there is no note about having to change it inside the vehicle

I have 3 steps in mine

To Replace the battery:
1. Remove the cover, by sliding it in the direction of the arrows
2. Use the key blade of the black key to separate the key fob body
3. Fit a new and unused CR2032 type battery (available from a Dealer / Authorised Repairer) with the positive (+) side upwards.

There is a note about not touching the battery and another note if the battery is not new then the low battery warning will not extinguish.

There must have been a change in the FOB at some point.

Probably safer in Malaysia to stay in the vehicle, as Tact noted all those wild animals & elephants! :)
