I thought i was so clever getting my EKA code of 4 digits for my MY15 from the dealer with no fuss, and carefully memorized it, and now it could be Hex
Another unique LR trick to trip us over.

I dont think the EKA code is something you want to "test" on your car and FU

Mine must be already converted as if I use just the first pair I get _E, which can't be correct!

I would say yes

Try it out. What's going to break!? Only way to know you got it right and know how to use it right.

Just have pity on neighbours - the alarm should go off in the process of using your EKA.

I'll try it out next time I'm at the dealers!

What could possibly go wrong

Supposedly handed over with the vehicle. I never got mine with the vehicle. Started asking a couple of years ago and the journey went like this:
- Land Rover Malaysia (LRM) said they'd have to ask LR UK.
- LR UK don't have records for vehicles shipped out CKD for assembly overseas, so would enquire of Lord Lucas to see if they had it on file
- Lucas also don't keep a record.
- Asked why cant LRM just hook up their LR diagnostics computer, and read the EKA from the security module. Apparently Nanocom devices can do that.
- LRM diagnostics computer couldn't read the EKA
- bought myself a Nanocom. It wouldn't, and still won't, even talk to my ECUs at all. Useless paperweight for 2yrs I have owned it.

- LRM and LR decide to replace all my ECUs (engine, security, instrument) with new, with known EKA.
- change of plans... Some new idea how to read my EKA with LR diagnostics
- didn't work
- waiting on new ECUs

Throw in a few months between every step above and it's taken more than 2yrs to still not yet have an EKA for my vehicle.

Got the Key fob of my 2016 defender wet with salt water

........rinsed it in fresh water dried it with tissue ....then sprayed it with Wd40 Contact cleaner

NO GOOD ....LOOKS DEAD ...

if I want to get a new one what are my options ....LRwill charge like a wounded bull
......is there an aftermarket solution ......
