Well the good news is the spline coupling between the gearbox and transfer box has stripped and is being replaced with an Ashcroft unit, so no need to remove the gearbox. the new coupling should also reduce some of the Puma's excessive backlash so all good!

An update here. I collected my shorty on Friday with the Ashcroft coupling unit installed and drove the three hours home mostly through Sydney’s ridiculous traffic. I reckon 80-85% of the previous backlash has gone and it is much smoother and easier to drive. A recommended upgrade if you have the money - not cheap;-)Quote:
