Thread: What did you do to your Puma today?

Got a 115,000 km service, including front brakes and rotors, fitted new heater valve, fluids and filters, wiper blades etc. The rear brakes had been done at the previous service.
The aircon had separately been serviced recently, but still was warming up after about 15 mins of driving. After a bit of fiddling with the new valve the aircon now stays nice and cold, which is great as its already stinking hot up here in Godzown.
My tip is to oil the arm on the rear of the heater valve which has the cable attached from the dash dial, as the arm can get stiff and refuse to move. The cable can also stretch, so you may need to use pliers to pull more cable through, and then oil the cable too.
Also, it appeared my aircon had never been serviced, despite the vehicle having been regularly serviced, and still had the original filter, which was clogged, so its worth checking the history of yours.

I never thought the PUMA had a Air Filter (Pollen) for the A/C. Where is it located?

Actually, I didn't ask. I'll check the manual when I can.

Looking at the microcat, I can't see any 'filter' listed other than the plastic grille on the wing tops which keeps the big stuff out.
There is also a plastic grille on the PS footwell for the recirc air, but no filter.
Interestingly, this is a mod some people have attempted. Here is one example.

So... what did they slug you for this mythical filter? Maybe when you when you go back to ask where it is, they can show you its location, so that you can 'keep an eye on it' during an upcoming trip

I'm not home to check the details.
However I did find this ad for a replacement Puma air compressor filter, so maybe that is it.
    Will check when home.

May not be the right Puma though. Seems to be a brand name.

So the air-con workshop said the air-con had a blockage in the system and they cleared it, fitted a new filter and re-gassed with dye.
So that's not a cabin filter, it's an air-con filter. The bloke said many workshops don't replace the filters. He said ours appeared to be the original and was blocked.
So I assume that's a compressor filter - does that sound right?

There's a filter drier in the system. It's the canister looking thing in the front LHS of the engine bay, beside the radiator, with two hard lines bolting to it.

Not sure what conditions would lead to this failing, but being a pressurised gas system, impurities shouldn't be getting in...
