What did you do to your Puma today?

1: Removed my ill fitting Terrafirma alloy steering guard (will replace with an Aussie made APT unit).
2: Fitted an Old Man Emu non RTC steering stabiliser.
3 : Did the front electric window relay modification. Brilliant mod that allows the windows to be opened or closed with the ignition off, keys out etc.
4: Fitted a 2 meter AM/FM whip to my bull bar for greatly improved radio reception.
    Best wishes all.

What's been done to it so far...

Nothing done to it today, but to bring you all up to speed so far...

My DCPU is 3yo now. Warranty ran out last month.
    In the last 3yrs:
    - Shortened stock towbar drop plate, adapted bracing bars, to raise that low hanging "plough blade" up higher

    - removed folding side steps (Were grounding on boulders, chassis rails are better rock sliders)

    - replaced towball with pintle hook bolted through modified drop plate onto rear crossmember with reinforcing plate behind.

    - front steering guard and tow points

    - rear under fuel tank guard

    - Ashcroft ATBs replacing front and rear diff centres

    - Ashcroft HD drive flanges (4)

    - BAS 170AB v2 tune

    - Allisport intercooler

    - 255/85R16 MT tyres on stock boost alloys

A pic of your tow bar mod would be appreciated
I have planned to alter the same issue
Was going to insert the tow hitch sleeve into the bar as per my old 130 but happy to see what others have come up with

To add to thread while away overseas I had the 130 tinted darkest legal and also chassis under body etched and sprayed black with a flat black underbody paint
Looks great and should keep the FeOx at bay

Drove my 2014 Defender 90 to Sydney on the Saturday, swapped it over for a 2016 Defender 110 and drove the new beast back to Melbourne on the Sunday

Changed the engine oil and filter to Nulon Full Synthetic 5W-30 Fuel Efficient Engine Oil. Runs really well on this oil.

    Hi Steve, pic below.

Basically reused the original drop plate and braces back to the chassis.
    - raised the drop plate as high as it would go
    - that put the top edge of the drop plate a some inches too high, blocking opening the tailgate. So cut the top edge off at a relevant level.
    - had to re-bend the braces a bit to fit. Notched them and the fuel tank guard to suit.
    - bolted the base of the pintle hook right through the drop plate and crossmember, a reinforcing plate behind.

Apparently the rear crossmember on the TDCi isn't as heavy duty as older models and so most advice was "don't just simply bolt a pintle hook to the crossmember".

Apparently there is no need to retain the drop plate and braces when fitting a pintle hook. Just use a reinforcing plate behind the crossmember is apparently enough. I wanted to over do things a bit there - hence kept the drop plate and braces in play.

    Thanks muchly for your update
Seems to be s different setup to mine ...

Oh well I'll likely just mod mine accordingly

I assume the change between 300tdi and ford engine yow bar is that the older style with 75mm extra clearance eould take half an hour longer to build ...
