Preventing oil vapour entering the intercooler in a 300TDi

In all of my 340k kms with the 300tdi, I have never managed to get the cooler flushing liquid more than mildly dirty. Used to do it every 50k kms. Now it's like check the pipes and leave for another 100 :D. My take is if your intercooler is filling with oil something more than a provent is needed!

I'm more worried about the oil that gets into my fuel pump diaphragm, the waste gate actuator and boost sensor. All of which I have either cleaned out or replaced due to oil, plus my intake manifold was filthy with it going into pot 1. Having a clean air system is also a plus.

I have collected about 20ml of oil in about 2000km. Seems to be working very well.

20ml in 2000 k`s :angel:Sorry but many a Tdi with 20 + times more k`s with out any wis bang gizmo oil catcher still surviving well :cool:I think some people are a little over cautious with old engines :angel:

Anyone who installs a can with 1/4" fittings to an engine with 3/4" PCV piping deserves whatever happens....

As long as the PCV filtering you add flows better than OEM you will be fine.

86mud on my old 300 I simply welded some 25mm ally tubing over the existing PCV hole on the rocker cover and then drilled it out to 1"... Able to them plumb in a provent 200 with it supported only by the piping?

If I poke around the shed I might even have a 300 rocker cover I could mod for you if you want?

I'm going down this route, i like the shiny bits but works on the same principle as the PVC version in Muds' OP.
