Where did you mount your winch controlled relay box?

    Hi,
I need to move mine from the spotlight mount on the ARB bullbar, as I bought a pair of lights.

What other positions have people used?

Somewhere on a forum I saw a smaller version of the control box that was a single relay. Nodoubt it must have been dp/dt or similar rather than the multi relays in the bigger control box. Its smaller size would fit more places.

    Over to the forum wisdom.

    Cheers

edit: winch control relay box in the header.............Grrr Flippin Phones!

I put a smaller waterproof unit (Albright solenoid) inside the "bumper bar" void, outboard from the drivers side chassis rail.

This arrangement provides reasonable physical protection, and keeps the wiring short for volt drop. I think it gives the front a fairly clean appearance.

I put my single relay behind the drivers side headlight. Minimal voltage drop. Just pulled out the head light to instal.was quick and easy.

Mine is up under the guard top, drivers side. One day I will get around to putting a lock and hinge on the black plastic cover so I can access the isolator mounted there and install an air line there as well while at it.

    Hi,
Some good info being posted, thanks.
I've ordered one of those smaller relays that are waterproof and rated at 500A. It will be easier to fit than the original box.
Next thing is to explore for where I want it.

    Cheers

Get a fender locker from GMB.

    Look at my build thread...

For some reason I generally feel compelled to make my own things, even though there is a perfectly fine one you can buy off the shelf.

Nothing wrong with that! Built not bought. Where did you mount your winch controlled relay box?

    Hi,
The relay arrived, looks a nice unit and it will fit where I want under the RH guard.

The supplied wiring diagram is confusing, as I don't have a Warn Control Box, and surely you wouldn't run 2 control boxes in line with each other.

I found another diagram on line which seems to look like what I want to do.

It looks to be the same relay. Is this how others have wired them?

    Cheers

    Edit: Now I'm really foxed.

I connected 12V across the low amp pins and got the following.

Pin3 Neg, Pin2 Pos and the + connects to F2

Pin3 Neg, Pin1 Pos and the + connects to F1

A doesn't seem to connect to anything at all.

Have I got the wrong relay???

    Cheers
