"bluntly I see another potential long term customer.." Good long term thinking which seems to be absent with so many businesses these days. My younger bro used the same thinking in his panel beating business in Sidney.
As far as he was concerned most of his customers were such shocking drivers they'd always be back and so he was always nice to them. Must be the reason he's mega rich and I'm still a peasant......[bawl]

I'm going to pick it up tomorrow and see how it drives now that they have taken everything apart and put it back together. That was what did the job for loneranger's 110 a couple of years ago. Will see if the same applies here.
Either way unless there is something that I can't afford to fix with after market parts during the remainder of the warranty, I don't think I want to put myself dealing with them again.
So now it turns out the floor matting to be replaced under warranty which was ordered in November last year has not been fitted because the wrong one was ordered.
Not sure why it took them nearly 3 weeks of having the car to work that out. Going to pick it up today anyway as I don't want to yet another weekend without it....
Just a bit furious now :angry::angry::angry::angry::angry:
I feel for you,,, they had mine for 8 very frustrating weeks,, and I still had to pay for the dyno/pilot reprogram myself.

So we got it back today. The positive next time they take it back to fix all the stuff that didn't get fixed they've said we can have a Jag as a loaner.
So what got fixed.
- The rear main seal was replaced even though they said they couldn't see a leak. At the service they told us it was leaking so not sure why now it wasn't leaking unless it had run out of stuff to leak :)
- The clutch squeak is gone as they lubricated the squeaky part.
- They said the brakes were dirty causing them to squeal so they got cleaned. (Not sure why this wasn't done at service in November)
What didn't get fixed.
- Apparently it spent over a week at the paint shop to repair the cracked roof paint. Nothing was done. Not sure why they needed a week to not do anything.
- The driver's door which hasn't shut properly since new. Apparently they need a new locking mechanism. Every time we have taken the car in we have asked them to look at this issue so 2 and half years later it might finally get fixed. They even took the door off rather than replacing the locking mechanism. I'm not a mechanic but I would have thought if the catch isn't catching the solution is kind of obvious.
- The floor matting because they ordered floor mats instead of the actual flooring. I'm scratching my head that this wasn't picked up.
Now to the big issue the back lash. The car is better than it was. About how it was when we asked them to look at it at the first service 18 months ago so I suppose that is progress.
So we have the car back for however long it takes for them to make a Jag available as a loaner. I'll be on the phone to Dazza tomorrow to see when we can get it in to him and they can have it back after that.
They need to understand that customer service doesn't begin and end at the service desk. Unfortunately the guy we deal with was off sick for a week. While he was away the ability of anyone else in their organisation to make sure parts were ordered, work done and decisions were made was sadly lacking.
Ref the cracked roof paint. Mine did that on the seam just above the A pillar. They had to get a quote and take detailed photos for head office approval before the fix was done. Perhaps this is where yours was at ?

I'm appalled, but not surprised. When I had Sarah's (1995 Classic Vogue SE) fuel tank done - under the warranty/recall - I gave the Service Advisor specific instructions that I did not want to come back to "$urprises" such as a list of expensive extras that just had to be done, - but pointedly gave them my mobile number, to ring and check with me (and receive Authority) just in case there were genuine extras required. I knew the breather hose was approaching 'Best Before' date...
NO phone call at all. (Have since been informed that, based on the experience of others, "Communication" has not been a strong point here...)
Didn't check their handiwork. Drove out all smiles, filled tank to Full a few days later.... and got the smell of petrol and Big Wet Spot underneath.:thumbsdown:

Even saw it leaking, running along the 1" diameter 'breather' that goes from tank-top and up to filler neck on the body... the rotted, cracked rubber one.... the one they must have noticed -( hard not to) - that obviously would be a problem... possible clue was a few inches of copper water-pipe in a particularly bad section...the bit in full view...
If a major Dealer is unable to fit a replacement petrol tank, (that bit done fine.. I hope.) and SAFELY re-connect all the attached piping etc, so THEY won't leak downthe road... then Land Rover and Land-Rover- Australia has a problem. - And now I am not overly confident that the simple, physical task of R/R Fuel Tank was done "properly". Only a Competant & Interested LR Mechanic could give me an answer, but I doubt if the car is even worth that much effort!
