    Central locking delayed

Chasing some advice or better yet someone's experience.
For the past week or so, when I lock the Defer with the fob (Puma MY12) the lights flash but the locks don't click down. Occasionally the locks will fire several seconds after I press the fob.
Happens on unlock as well. Locks work instantly when I use the drivers door key.
My suspicion is that the battery is on the way out, not discounting that but it starts no problems.
    Greatly appreciate any pointers..

    Cheers Glen

Yep, change battery and see. I believe the service schedule has a battery change at 80,000 kms, but I got ours done earlier.

I have experienced similar, but different issue with central locking and remote also on a 2012 Puma. Press the button on the fob to arm the system there is a slight noise from deep inside somewhere, doors do not lock, the interior light will dim while the button on the fob is depressed. Just seemed to fix itself after a couple of days. The lights have never flashed as part or the arm/disarm process even though the owners manual says they do...

Had another issue where the rear door (shorty) would not unlock with either the remote or key. Again fixed itself after a few days but has occurred a couple of times.

Any clues as to cause/fix for these issues?
    Cheers

Sounds like your alarm/immobilser is not operating. I had an issue with my alarm going off intermittently, and while JLR were waiting for a replacement bonnet sensor they disabled my alarm in the interim to prevent more false alarms and as a result the fob still worked, but my indicators did not flash nor did the interior light dim.

That's interesting cos I can't find anything that resembles an alarm. I was led to believe that these were not fitted to Aussie spec vehicles. Clearly requires further investigation .

    Thanks Graekynn

    Hi,
Similar problems were solved by going through the battery removal sequence described in the owners manual.
Once reconnected every thing returned to normal.

Thanks for the advice so far.
Coincidentally I had it going to MR Auto for a 90K service, yesterday. On Friday we are going to Fraser Island for a week so in for a service and a few checks on some stuff that was done to the fuel system after Easter.
(More on that once the insurance is sorted)
Yesterday morning, heading off to drop it in for the service, went to start it and battery very dead - 8 Volts. Not great news but better now than somewhere alone on Fraser. Jumped it off my house battery and off I went, alternator charged up to 14.2 volts so that's OK. MR replaced the battery but still same problem with the locking.

Not so long ago (8 weeks) I plugged my Ultragauge back in to diagnose some issues I was having , the car then sat in the shop for a few weeks, only had it back about 2 weeks now.
I'm suspecting that it might be the culprit, as it very rarely is problematic when opening but now pretty common on closing. I'll do some tests.
As I mentioned the key in the door works and the engine deimmobilizes (I don't think that is a scrabble word, but it should be) so not too worried.

    Cheers Glen

Yeah, my MY16 has an alarm (horn is the siren), in fact they found out that the ultrasonic sensor normally installed behind the drivers head on the pillar was missing and added that as well.

Put it this way, assuming all year pumas were similarly equipped, do you have a flashing red indicator on your dash when the car is locked via fob? if not then it may not be enabled.

This thread kinda discusses it if it helps - Puma Alarm System Advice Needed

I have no red light on the dash and no sensor behind the drivers head rest. Most strange.... yes I read somewhere that the horn is the alarm.

Internal movement sensor was not stock in Aust for my MY13 even though the wiring is there for it. At least that's what the stealer feed to me. I'd reckon that your immobiliser has been disabled, mine was disabled after a firmware update and it took them a bit to get it back.
Just a thought, do you have a fob?
