Is there any point in this? I assume this is to strengthen the bonnet but do not understand the need to replace existing ones, additional makes sense but I seemed to already have rivets everywhere they suggest. This vehicle has previously had bonnet mounted kit but a different type So appears to have already got all the rivets. I have heard stories of poorly fitted kits destroying bonnet and want ensure this does not occur.

travelrover - there were two different bonnets for the Defnde4rs - one 'normal' and one strengthened to suit the spare wheel mount. Perhaps the kit is designed to strengthen the former kind, and you have one of the latter.

There would be no point in removing rivets and replacing them with other rivets, if that's all that's happening....
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

Have purchased a mini mud pod for my 300Tdi project Defender and VDO EGT & Pyrometer to mount in it. I know there have been recent threads here as to where best to locate the sensors so I need to track those down. Am also looking for a round Defender (analog) clock to mount in the middle as the PO has removed this. Anyone got one sitting in their shed? Waiting for an RDX ‘command console’ to arrive from the UK also. This will allow me to tidy up the mess the PO has created and mount some useful switches and hopefully a Defender radio (also looking for one of these if there is one with PIN in your shed, pre 2002). Plan to have a Mulga exbox next payday and will spend Christmas tidying up the wiring and removing unnecessary additions and ensuring the risk of fire due to dodgy wiring is eliminated. Well that’s the plan but vehicle wiring and I are not good friends :-(

Bought an AULRO wheel cover for our black Puma shorty as a Christmas present for the boss so you will see that on the roads of the Hawkesbury after Christmas:-)
    Cheers

    Hey Rob!
I've done about 1500kms these passed couple of days and I'm sooooo glad I bought a td5. 110km/hr and less than 11 l/100 - most of that w ac blasting.
She's super clean and been really well looked after by previous owner. He's a cane farmer in MacKay, nice bloke too. It's done some work, but he's kept everything oiled, greased and tight.
She's pretty much stock, so a good platform to build on.
We are off to Tassie late dec for a few weeks but I have a couple of jobs for clients to finish before Xmas. Not much time to get stuff done!
Tool storage on the tray is first priority (so I can get back to work) then snorkel and maybe new back seats to make it safer for the kids. I'd like to put some sliders/steps and brush bars on as it doesn't have a single dent in it!! They may have to wait til after tassie tho and dents may be made What purchases have you made for your Defender lately? The list after that is long but the budget is not so, I'll have to be patient....
I'll try to post pics tomorrow
