Mine is on 2100 revs in sixth at 100kmh. It doesn't like to drop much below 2000 revs. Below 80kmh it must be in 5th.
I have a 2.4 with a Steinbauer chip.
Thanks,
I'll go for a cruise on the freeway and take note what ist sitting at 6th gear 100km/h
Cheers,
Humphrey
I pull a 1ton trailer every day & have from the first day with my 90. Truck has done 200,000K's, to date no issues other than the clutch was replaced under warranty & replaced with a HD one. On open road the truck is always in 6th at 110Ks it sitting on 2200, running 33.3 tyres.
Cheers

My 2012 Puma is definitely getting noisier under load in 6th after 85k's . I now downshift to 5th for hills rather than lug up them in 6th. I suspect its high torque loadings leading to wear. I've decided to take it easier on the box rather than risk a rebuild.
More than likely the weights getting looser at the bottom of your gear stick.
Mine was very heavily modified and loaded would easily have weighed 2.6-2.7 ton probably a touch more and i would drive for hours on end in 6th at 110-120kms and try and increase speed up hills. The box is a great box and its tough! If your going up a decent hill at 100kms or less then 5th is a good idea just so your not laboring the engine. The pumas like to be revved and this is better for egts and engine coolant temp too. Learn your cars sweet spot, where the torque and power are in your rev range and associated gear and you'll be right.
I thought towing in top gear being a no no was a throw back to the older gearboxes (not just LR boxes, but gear boxes in general) where 5 gear was not supported well. Just sort of hung off the side...
I put 330,000km on a R380 with at least 250,000 of that towing 1.9t. Plenty of 5th gear towing and I mean plenty. 5th wasnt the problem, and Im guessing 6th in the MT82 not either....
Lack of power was/is
Time will tell as im now towing with a MT82 and the 3.2 in front of it
or is it a puma or a cougar or a black panther or a Siberian husky or Alaskan malamute... or the famous web footed barking bollock.
Nah, just the 3.2 tdci in a BT-50.
Stll got the old 110, just parked up and awaiting a major rebuild. Another head gasket at the very least.
