Hey Everyone,
First post here!
Currently looking at a 2001 TD5 Defender on car sales with 189,000 on the clock which is really quite low for a car of it's age!
Being in NSW and the truck in Victoria it makes it a little harder but:
If sending someone to check it, what should I look out for and what would make it a no go?
Additionally, servicing is a big thing, anyone got a quality mechanic in sydney that deals with defenders specially?
Cheers
Steve
I went through this recently, three times. I found a Land Rover Independent Garage near each one and the sellers were good enough to take the vehicles to get inspected. Around $180-220 and you get a full report
I also have a 2001 with about the same ks.
General overall condition is what id look for. The ks are nothing unless its all rough tracks in which case its huge.
I do all my own servicing and you can tell just by looking at it that it what has been done rather than looking at stamps in books etc.
My thoughts on this car are...... Came from the NT so may have seen some rough work?? Paint looks great on the outside. Why? Not consistent with age. Now a respray is fine but is that overspray white paint on the rear passenger side door hinge bolts? And under the rear guards looks too white. What is really underneath it all. The under hood and paint in the rear storage gives more clues. Might be all fine and a great car but id want to have a good look. Cracked instrument panel on the right side is totally normal and id expect some corrosion here and there which is fine if it has been treated and not too bad.
Does it come with a roady
Hey Mate,
Cheers for looking the car up... good to see the folk on here have better eyes than me. Totally disregarded the idea of it potentially having a respray, just took it for being in good condition.
If I do consider it, will definitely be having it checked out by someone down in Victoria, don't wanna end up with a lemon haha!
Cheers
