Thanks All, Looks like Rijidij is the way to go. I don't have bumperette's (yet) so it shouldn't be an issue.
I do like that there is no drilling and bolting into the right hand side tub capping, even though I have
already done it once with the gas bottle mount.

Doesn't any one use Kaymar rear carriers any more. These are made in Australia, incredibly strong, no holes have to be drilled at all. I've had mine on for 20 years, The first accessory I put on, you do have to open the carrier first then the door, but it's not difficult to do. I use this regularly as a step up onto the roof rack, many, many times, it's as strong as a bull, strongest part of the Defender!.
I've even been tail ended without a dent/bend needing a repair still perfect. My jerry can holder is bolted independantly to the body of the Defender that has been hit & straightened on the vehicle hasn't been off the car in the 15 years that has been on, made it myself, two holes drill through body, bottom two holes pre existing holes.
I used to have my Hi Lift on wheel with shovel but gone to mag wheels so Hi Lift now on roof rack, until I can get a suitable fitting for mags.

It would appear I can't edit my posts either, any way RRP is $1067 for Kaymar compared to the rigidij at $1300 & you have to cut n drill to fit theirs, but you can open when door opens.Quote:

Saw that you're considering the Rijidij - I would recommend. I looked at a couple replacement ones online around $600 - $800, but none look as solid as the Kaymar or the Rijidij. $1300 is a fair amount of cash, but I'd rather wait and save than buy twice.
One big advantage of the carrier opening with the door, other than just convenience, is you can open the door from inside without having to open the carrier first. This is a great safety feature for rear seat passengers, and for those who sleep in the back of the car.
