Nice 130 on portals

It's about a $20k investment and there is still no guarantee that they will last in Australian conditions. As Uninformed said, one member on here had a set but had issues with breakages. There is another 130 running around Europe with a set and has never had a problem. I think they are fine for touring, but not hardcore offroading. Mercedes Benz Unimog portal axles are better suited to the hardcore stuff.

Getting through Qld Transport would be another headache (other states may differ)

Hey Murray, i reckon there is probably a market for that sort of front bar too if you were considering expanding your range.

I’ve scrutinised that bar in the picture, it does look pretty good. Maybe I’ll build one for my project vehicle I’m working on and see how it goes.

Murray, while your brain matter is churning around, where/how could the Tibus spare wheel be mounted on the rear of a 130 HCPU tub? I know you make the swing away carrier, but I think the wheel/tyre size combo might call for something a little more radical.

Portals being "modelled", i.e. posed right side up and wrong side up to give a clear view of the concept. [biggrin]

Note the dropped wheel centres relative to the axle centreline. (when right side up)

This guy is looking at the single swing away carrier. I'm waiting on more specs of the wheel tyre combo to see what's involved, such as weight, offset, stud pattern etc. They are big units. The carrier is pretty strong, but we might be pushing the limits.
