the only downside to that is it doesn't cut down the engine noise like the wrap does... and it does make a significant difference IME

Got a new front pipe today with the flexi joint. Bit hard to tell how much difference the flexi made, after driving for a couple of days with a large hole anything would be quieter!
They emphatically suggested do not use wrap. They even told me they had it for sale, but do not recommend it. Of note, the only part of my exhaust that had holes (this repair and a repair about 8 months ago) were under the wrap, perhaps just a coincidence. They suggested using other methods to keep heat out of the cabin, including dynamat style bitumen products on the vehicle itself.
For those who have used it without an issue - did this include beach driving? I'm wondering whether salt water has a different affect.
