Although I still can not lock the wheels/abs lights on on bitumen. Maybe it's because running bigger tyres 255 85....

Was able to do that with factory tyre and pads (Continental contact 235 85 16)
Most people don't understand how much pedal feel can vary with different compounds.

Initial bite, total retardation and quite importantly, release all vary.

Release on tyres with relatively minimal traction and no ABS is really important so you can modulate the pedal.

Long story short bit the bullet and removed the rocker cover. The attached images show what I found. The noise turned out to be the injector rocker hitting the rocker cover. Spring has fractured and other components then failed. No other apparent damage other than the injector adjusting screw. I have located all the remains of the components and have fished extensively with a magnet for any remaining metallic debris. Next step to conduct an oil and filter change then track down a replacement black top injector, and bits to fit it and a replacement adjusting screw.

The filter/s will catch any debris.

Tdi's are notorious for destroying lash caps and the resultant debris doesn't affect overall wear.

    • Found a hairline crack in the head on my County Isuzu, so fitted a brand new head and gasket.
    • Made some rear spring spacers, similar to the Gwyn Lewis ones. 25mm
    • Made some drop down shock mounts to match the shocks to the addition of the spring spacers.
    • Made some heavy duty track rod protectors and got them galvanised.
    • Had some hazard switch panels laser cut from stainless steel.
    • Fabricated an all steel dash and inner mount.

I just wish I had time to make all the other little things that are in my head.
Would there be a market for any of those bits you made?

    mud flap ghetto fix

Took the family into the Brindabellas for an outing today. Discovered that my drivers side rear mudflap was hanging a tad off kilter. At first I thought I'd lost the top nut off the bolt that attaches the outboard side of the bracket to the panel. Turns out a triangular chunk of panel had just cracked off, with nut and bolt still in place.

Didn't have any particularly good bits and pieces on hand, so I used some tin snips to cut a little section out of the lid of an empty jar. I laid it across the gap, with a stainless washer on each side of it and reattached the nut. Won't win any beauty contests, but it's pretty solid.

I suppose I should try and replace it with something more suitable, but it's ok for now.

Image 1: Cracked off little piece of panel

    Image 2: Donor lid

Image 3: Repair from the inside (sorry about the poor focus)

Image 4: Repair from the outside

    Cheers,

Yeah, I do sell the hazard switch panels, track rod guards and steel dash replacements, but there’s so many small things that can be manufactured and not enough time to do it all.

    TD5 Injector Failure Update

Well tracked down all the required parts. Pulled all the injectors and inspected. Replaced cooper sealing washers and o rings on all injectors. Changed oil and filters. Also took the opportunity to replace the fuel regulator. It took a while to fire after conducting the fuel purge procedure. Did 100 kilometers this weekend and it is running well. Will need to update the ECU for the replacement injector when the current group buy for a nanocom finishes.

Replaced the original 89 seats with some fresh 2016s . Shown side by side. Gain a slightly higher backrest and easily adjustable/removable headrest, otherwise pretty much same deal.

The old ones need a new home PM if interested.

    Installed a lockable box.

Cubby is suposed to go on top, but plan to stick a cushion on it instead.

Replaced the security nuts with normal nuts on my wheels .. I did leave one on the spare.

I just don't know - has anyone ever had their wheels stolen?
