AC , air con, service after 10 years.
Hi guys, well it finally happened, its been on my gunna do list for a few years.
I had a mobile guy come around, and I did the prepation for him, and gave the description of the filter dryer-receiver, hoping it would be cheaper. I'm not sure how that worked out it , the service cost $200.
The filter dryer is behind the LHS headlight on my Tdi, ( and many other models i suspect), I removed the headlight before he came.
I also took the bolts out of the bracket for the PS reservoir so it can be moved aside.
And unbolted the filter dryer so it could be moved a little to get the spanners on oK.
The filter dryer is a generic 4 port one with the same dimensions as the one fitted, ( not sure if that was original makers equipment or not.) It looks like they are a common type, so not difficult to get.
Andy, the AC guy transferred the LP cutout, and gauge connection
across.
Vacuum pumped down the system and added 1095 grams of R134a, (why not 1100 you ask?)
Ran the AC on full blast to check the head and suction pressure, all ok.
It was a mild day only about 26, the AC was cutting out after a few minutes, I had to open the windows so it would run continuously. Cooler inside than its been since since I left Victoria. :)
I had the grill and bug screen off just so I could get feel for the breeze created by the fan, the fan is moving a lot of air, and the head pressure was only about 14 bar.
cheers simmo

Installation of Shingleback's Sill Tank
Finally got around to installing the Shingleback Sill Tank in my Defender 110. Just got to get around to filling it up to see what it holds....
I ended up installing a 2nd Filler just below the Passengers Door but using a 50mm size filler made it a bit more harder due to the short piece of hose required and the angles involved to mate them up, but I eventually got it to fit.... but I'm a bit concerned on the pressure I need to use to get the hose & fittings to mate up, so I'll be watching for any signs of fatigue on the filling point and the joint into the tank.... Time will tell though.... If I could have found a more flexible hose I think it would have made it easier but I went with what I could find....
Decided to go with a simple setup of just using a facet pump feeding back into the Main Tanks Breather hose as well as teeing the Aux Tank Breather hose into the Main Tank too. I decide not to install a Fuel gauge at this stage and will just switch the facet on and hopefully rely on the time it takes to pump 70ltrs across which should be around 30mins or so.....
