What did you do on your Defender today ? (well, this week anyway)

Today's job.

After having the floor out during lockdown (the first one) and repairing some minor rust in the drivers footwell, I was surprised at the amout of old mud (and a little rust) sitting on the chassis despite thorough cleaning.

After tidying up the chassis outrigger I looked at options for keeping the mud from accumulating there in the first place.

Costly (with the freight) but the best design I found was from Gwyn Lewis 4x4, their front mudshield kit was fairy easy to fit and will prevent mud from both being flung onto the chassis outrigger and up the side of the truck.

It moves the front mud flap forward and after cutting away the bottom of the wheel arch flare a little it also sits out enough to stop the mud being flung up the doors.

Be interested to see how this works out. The problem with mudflaps close to the wheel is that if you back up against a lump on the ground the mudflap is immediately torn off (been there, done that, with several vehicles!).

Replaced the engine mounts, ended up being easier than expected which was a nice change compared to the debacle of snapping exhaust manifold studs while working on thathttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...6f419b2f26.jpg

In an effort to revive this thread (my last post here seemed to kill it) here's what I did to my Defender today/yesterday......

Installed an ARB compressor under driver's seat now that the ECU is in an ExBox.

Outputs to base of both front seats and a remote intake mounted in the B pillar.

Space in there for small tank if anyone has suggestions.....

Good thinking to get this thread back up and running. Love seeing what people are doing to their landy's.
Now with the canopy on, been playing with some drawers I bought second hand. An figuring out what I want to do in the tub. I think I prefer them stacked. Leaves room for the fridge on a custom slide and Drifta mini kitchen. Also plenty of room down the side for chairs and water tank or diesel tank up against the head board. Took it wheeling through the Otways on the weekend in the torrential rain, first time ive properly driven a land rover off road, performed great, was able to lumber through most obstacles in low range. Hand brake did decide to get stuck on halfway through though, which solves the question of what ill be doing with my last week of leave... Attachment 167403Attachment 167404

The eldest boy was sifting through the AULRO app on my phone on the way back from the farm today and asked why I haven’t made a set of drawers yet for the back of the old girl
I’d drawn up what was going to suit my needs months ago and never had (made) time to put the plan into play
My goolies were feeling up to it so I told him he’d have to get off the bloody PlayStation when we got home and we’d see how we go knocking some up before we leave on Tuesday
So I dragged out the old drawings, **** I’d even done a cut list
Down to the big green shed
$150 later on some wood and screws (already had the sliders from my old 110 before it became a dual cab)
I dragged out the old triton workbench
3 hours of cutting drilling and screwing before the wife called us in for dinner
**** me we just about had them done
I’ll have to shoot off early in the morning and pickup a bit of boat carpet mount the runners and put them in

Nice. I am looking to do something similar in the near future. If you are looking for a tank, I think this may fit fore/aft next to your compressor

Not sure if the threads match the ARB fittings but may be able to adapt.

Do you keep the metal lid on the seat box or just the seat base. I am just wondering how hot it gets in there if the lid is on and the compressor running.

ARB Fittings are NPT, I’m rather surprised that the Superior Engineering tank has NPT sockets. Be nice CFF e if they added a BSP sockets.
