They would have to be happy with that.

Fuso just won't be the same.... But, moving on... I'll bet they'll love it, and I imagine it goes a little better than stock.

OK so the weekend job was to fit new door seals to the Defender.

I used Bearmach items (and they seem to be good quality). I was shocked to find out (just as writing this) that they are actually no longer in operation.
I suppose that speaks to how long I've had these lying around.
    Part numbers: BR1036, BR1037, BR1046, BR1047

It was a bit of a faff as have to remove front door skins to remove the pin to get the (its not a hinge but it connects from the bottom of the door to under the dash thing) out of the way.

Got there in the end though.

What's people's 'go to' UK source these days? Britpart?
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

I most often use Land Rover Classic Parts (Jaguar Classic Parts for the Jag, same company). Usually genuine parts at better prices than the dealer (which is no challenge). I was going to replace the door seals on the 130 before Christmas, I bailed out when the 4 seals totalled over $1k. Wished I had some sitting around for years.

There's a Sydney based mob I used a few times but they 'bait and switch' by offering OEM and then supplying britpart or similar inferior products, after the third such experience they have lost my business permanently. Can't name and shame.

Oh dear. Even adjusted for inflation I'm sure I paid nothing like that.

No, it’s a completely different beast - although still quite “raw” like the old defenders.

It’ll be missed, but the new owner is a pure enthusiast so it’s going to a great home.

And just like that, after 10 years of motoring joy - our 90 “Ike” drove away with his new owner Meagan.

New longranger fuel tank after the last one developed a rust hold behind the crossmember. New fuel pump.

Bugger! Rust hole caused by dirt getting trapped there and holding moisture?

    Yep.

I've spent a long time in dirt and sandy conditions with that car. It has no rust in it because I set aside a day to clean it. I thought I'd found every little place where it can hide but apparently not.

My mechanic is doing this one. I asked if there is anyway of washing in there and he said I might have to drill holes to get in there. Now I know it's a problem.. when i get the car back I'll have a good hard look to see if there is a way of getting the hose in there.

Long Ranger is famous for less than stellar coatings. He suggested powdercoating the tank but the powdercoaters are MIA. So we've settled on putting some extra rust protection paint on it. Otherwise the car could be languishing there until mid feb.

If there is any consolation the crossmember is fine which is great news.
