Post What did you do on your Defender today ? (well, this week anyway)

I have acquired some drawers for the back of the 130.
Yesterday I bolted down the frame, fitted the drawers and drawer stops.
Next job is to put the top back on them.
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

    carpet

I finished my motor trimming apprenticeship! I'd like to thank exmoor trim for sending me all the course material (ie a carpet set that was not even close to fitting).

Jokes aside, I did the front carpet just over a year ago, which makes it feel pretty plush and actually isn't the cleaning hassle I thought it would be, so I ordered a rear set last week. Bearmach was the same price as exmoor but the shipping was miles cheaper, so I treated myself to a full LED light kit too.

Fitted the lot on the weekend and all looks great

Had the engine stop control (EDIC) replaced this week. It’s luxury to be able to turn the key which results in the motor turning off.

Great to hear the draws are in and I guess the canopy is bolted down Vlad, I found the spare keys for the canopy and draws so will mail to you.

I fitted the new clutch, DM flywheel, Ashcroft gearbox with HD bearings and taller top gear + transfer with ATB to the 130. First impression is good and seems to be quieter at 100kmh but had to go overseas for a week so busting to get back and go for a good drive

Finally managed to remove the old steering damper which required a lot of work with the angle grinder and replace with a new Bilstien on my 300Tdi project and then mounted the APT steering guard.

Also replaced the rear axles and hubs with heavy duty ones I have been waiting on since December. Then got the rego renewed!
    Cheers

    Ball joint boots

Changed the 4 ball joint boots, one of them was cracked. I scooped out the old grease, (one was dry and crusty), and refilled them with MDS grease. To do all 4 of them took about 1.5 hours. I noticed there's not much grease in them, so was generous in refilling them. all the ball joints still felt tight and smooth, so not bad after 220,000 kms. I expect they'll be good for another 5 years without any attention. The new boots came from MR Automotive in brissy at $8.5 each.

    cheers simmo
