Thread: Increasing Defender values?

A friend of mine picked up 2 x 130 Defenders a few weeks back
1 x TD5 many ks but paid $9500
1 x 300 TDI $2500
So $12000 for both
Both drive able and registered must admit I was a little envious

Its the Glory days of Defender prices for Sellers right now, The cessation of Defender production has a lot to do with it .

Its a Bell curve , people are asking way more than their worth value, I doubt anyone would pay those prices, though I think some Perenties on EBay are closer to reality.

With the EV revolution about to hit with a vengeance, the prediction is that Petrol & Diesel car value will plummet in about 10 years , to the point where they are scrap value. This should bring LandRover values back to reality.

I noticed some "remarkable" prices being "asked" for Low 90s on Carsales, several in the 70s/80s, I think the best I saw was a Heritage for $125K.

The arrival of the new Defender model will have the most immediate effect either way.

In terms of the end of diesel, it will all depend on supply and the price of EV’s.

Tough call...sell your Defender now in anticipation of an awesome hybrid Defender? Or hold onto your Defender for all time because there will never be anything like it ever again? !!
How is everyone feeling about this? I would have trouble parting with mine!

Have no plans to sell mine. Might start growing canola so i have my own fuel supply :-)

Took me 9 months to sell the 2010 110 with 175K on the clock. That was with everything done like axles and that damn shaft which breaks so often.... exceptionally well serviced.... over serviced some would say. Excellent tyres etc. etc.
But interest was low right from the start and I dropped the price to 35K eventually to move it. That or return it to being our main trip vehicle but I didn't want to do that.
I think there's a huge difference between asking and getting some of these huge prices.

While it’s nice to think the Defender may be worth more now than when I bought it, it’s pretty much irrelevant to me.

I plan on keeping mine indefinitely. I’ve even bought a second car now so I can keep the mileage down. The plan is to just use it for touring duties and for fun - although I do miss using it as a daily driver.

I expect the second car will become a new Defender at some stage that will also take over the touring duties as both Alasdair and I get older.

I’m not worried about the long term availability of diesel. I doubt it will become an issue in my lifetime and if it does I’m sure I’ll be able to run it on something.

The beauty of the Defender is that as modern cars become ever more complex, it will always be simple to maintain.

It will always be my go-to vehicle in the event of a zombie apocalypse.

yep, as nerdy as it sounds that’s one reason I’m keeping my 300Tdi (apart from the fact I just can’t part with it!) no computer to fry when the aliens zap us LOL! I use it as my daily driver, keeping the kms off the puma which I use for long trips. If the apocalypse comes when I’m on a trip I guess I’ll be walking home to pick up Landy 300Tdi 😳
