Thread: Under Tray Fuel Tank

I was looking at something similar, unfortunately I like the usefulness of the toolbox under the tray too much. Would be a very effective solution. The 2nd tank in the Disco used a facet transfer pump to fill the main tank like this one 190 LPH 7-10 PSI 12v Universal Electric Fuel Pump Genuine Facet Solid State | eBay
that's how I would do it. The filter gives some extra reassurance, if you get an unknown fuel source you can put it through the under tray tank first and then filter it without worrying about the complications of a modern fuel system. I'd consider wiring up a sensor in the filter bowl as well.

Yeah so you pretty much nailed the reason I was thinking along these lines to begin with. I was trying to figure out a way to filter the fuel while filling up. Trying to fill straight through the filter would be too slow, so I thought of adding the tank as a buffer, so I'd be able to get atleast 50L in before it started slowing down.

A friend was building a tray for his waggon now modified to a dual cab ute.
Amongst many of his ingenious adaptions was an aluminium fuel tank forming part of the tray head board.
It filled quickly from the bowser and gravity fed to the main tank.
I'm not sure if it was filtered or not.

Thats a great idea.
I'd prefer to keep it a bit lower down if possible.

His thinking was that he would fill the top tank at the last opportunity and bleed it down as and when he could.
Thus lowering the centre of mass early in the trip.
