Sorry not seen a current nanocom and no idea of the comparative features. There is a AULRO has a forum folder for diagnostic Q's. Maybe some scanning that can answer your Q [pun intended]. i should have been clear when pointing to Blackbox. the anodised blue boxes with a single line code reader is what i had in mind. can't imagine there being any joy reading real time data on a single line screen.

Yes, the VCV was starting to show signs of playing up, so it has been replaced - all good now

Do you mind if I ask the $, and what the parts/labour break-up was? Mine does the idle hunt occasionally so I think I have this ahead of me. I'd consider DIY but I don't have a re-learn tool.

No worries, time was an issue for me as well, so I just got the mechanic to do it. The VCV (Landrover Part LR009837) was $475 with a total install and pilot relearn on it came to $615 or thereabouts. More than I really wanted to pay but it was one of those moments that just saved me a fair bit of time and it's something that I've never done before so I took the easy path

Intake manifold off, VCV off the back of the fuel pump, new one on, manifold back on. I recall reading that removing the manifold is optional, but makes it a hell of a lot easier.

I am not sure if a pump relearn is one of the locked features of the Nanocom/GAP tools, if somebody in your area is willing/able to try then you may get lucky. Some have gotten away with not doing the relearn, but it is not recommended.

Then again $615 i not such a bad price.

VCV replaced some months ago and no "learning" carried out. All has been well since. Symptoms before replacing the VCV was an occasional power surge when driving. I used a Denso item.DCRS300260
(SCV valve DCRS300260)
Also has Valve Assembly-Fuel Vapour on label.
