For one, JLR put 2 pin center fiff in puma defenders instead of 4 pin. Its like cuting a testicl off the two and not telling you, the owner that your brand spaking new defender, instead of a pair, comes only one (all previous defenders have 4 pin center diff.

All the cheap drive flanges from factory etc.... It's like JLR expect the owners to replace the components

And guess what the owners have that expectations to replace the components too, in the name of preventive maintenance.

Bit of a Stockholm syndrome, don't you think?

.... surely that would be a SAAB or Volvo ? Thread started usefully, discussing Defenders & Toyota 80s.

(comment only made because this thread, which started well, has obviously descended into frivolity)

    Thanks I mean no offense.
I don't think my comments are discriminatory in anyway.

90% of the defects on defender can be prevented by inspection before defenders leave factory. Pre delivery inspection is all that's required. If they can not pass the pre delivery inspection, maybe they should not have left the factory.

Land Rover deliver defenders with known adaptor shaft problem, assembled without lubrication.

What would you think if you were the defender (assume defender has soul

They're both very reliable vehicles, so I wouldn't hesitate to head off remote in either of them. Mind you, I'd need to take a LOT more fuel in the 80 than in the Defer.

I'm not sure that Land Rover owners actually feel like kidnapping victims who feel affection towards their kidnappers, but I get your point.
